All-Star Selection Process

To all AAA and Majors Participants:

Registration for participation in the 2018 Little League All Star Tournament is now open. Please sign up no later than May 26th to express interest in being part of a Tolland All-Star Team and the willingness to commit to the team. To register, log into your personal account, and you will see what is available for your player(s). Additional details re: the selection process, which varies based on the age level, are provided below:

In 2018, the Tolland Little League is planning on placing three All-Star teams into the District 8 tournament. Unlike the regular season, the All-Star teams are chosen with the intent of competing at the highest level. Every All-Star candidate must meet the following criteria: eligibility, availability, ability and attitude/effort.

The player needs to be age appropriate for the team he is chosen to participate on. The player must have played 60 percent of his team’s regular season games. The player must be a Tolland resident, and the player must be able to commit to attending 100% of all games & 90% of all scheduled All-Star practices (exceptions: sick, illness, family emergency; all approved absences will be reviewed by the teams All-Star coaching staff, VP 60’ Baseball and the President).  These criteria are consistent with those established in previous years.

Beyond the talent of the player that is selected, the player must make a commitment to be available from mid-June to the end of July, with a potential of going into August and be able to play every game.  If a player cannot commit to that time period, they will not be eligible for All-Star selection and should not sign up. While this may seem like a very long time now, most involved in past All-Star teams will say it ended much too soon.  Parents may encumber additional travel expenses, especially if the teams advance in Tournament play.

Being an All-Star is more than just having the talent to compete. It is also about having good character, the right attitude, being a good sport and a good teammate. Players not exhibiting a great attitude and effort will not be eligible to represent Tolland Little League in All-Star Tournament play.  If you or your player would like to learn more about All-Stars, please contact Jeremy Rainha, VP 60’ Baseball/All Star Coordinator (860-778-3583) and/or Tim Griffin, President (860-748-8960).  Your player can also talk to previous All-Stars, and we are sure they will find out that All-Stars was a rewarding experience that created life-long memories.

All players selected will be charged a minimum of $80 to participate on the All-Star team in tournament play. Players will receive a custom dri-fit jersey, fitted hat and dri-fit practice shirt with name/number.
