Tolland Little League Families,
Thursday, Little League International announced that it is cancelling all Little League World Series international and regional tournaments. My heart breaks for the limited number of players who would have made it to those tournaments, but this announcement was not unexpected. On the positive side, this announcement allows us to have a longer Tolland Little League season hopefully followed by a local all star tournament later in the summer. Little League International kept its recommendation to suspend activities until May 11 th and now recommends that we start our season when state and local officials allow it. Late last week, Little League International provided some helpful advice on getting the season going. Tolland Little League remains ready to start a season for our players when we can.
Locally here in our Connecticut District 8, the league presidents had a call Thursday night during which we decided that we would lobby the Governor and our State Representatives to include D8 Little League in the recreational activities that can and should open in the first phase on May 20 th or, at the very least, prior to the second phase, which would result in our season starting in early July. We also discussed new precautions that would make playing safe but still fun. I will keep you posted on any developments.
